Ringbridge

Your mechanics should be fixing cars, not racing to the phone.

Ringbridge answers for independent garages, mobile mechanics, tyre shops and specialist repairers. It takes the registration, the symptoms and the booking, while everyone in the workshop keeps their hands on the job.

The problem

The phone rings when everybody has their hands full.

A workshop makes money when cars are being fixed. Every time someone wipes their hands and walks to reception, a ramp is earning nothing, and the job they left takes longer to get back into than the call took.

Let it ring and the driver with a warning light simply tries the next garage. They were ready to book. Most never leave a message, and you never find out they called.

A full-time receptionist is a big overhead for a two- or three-ramp shop, and the calls do not arrive on a rota. They come in clumps: first thing, lunchtime and ten minutes before you close.

The caller with the warning light is a booked diagnostic, if someone answers.

What Ringbridge handles

What comes in on a workshop line.

Ringbridge sorts each call by what the driver needs and what your garage is willing to do about it.

  • Warning lights and faults

Which light, how the car is driving, how long it has been on. Enough for a technician to know what they are walking into.

  • Vehicle won’t start

Symptoms, location and whether the car can be moved, so you can choose between a call-out, recovery or a booked slot.

  • Servicing and MOT requests

Registration first, then the service wanted and a preferred date. Offered against your diary where it is connected.

  • Estimates

Details are taken for the estimate. Prices are only given where you have set them, such as a fixed diagnostic fee or a standard service.

  • Repair updates

“Is my car ready?” is answered from your system where connected, or passed to the right person as a callback with the registration attached.

  • Urgent and unsafe

Brake failure, fuel smells or a car stranded somewhere dangerous are flagged and routed according to your rules, not left in a queue.

On the phone

A non-start, Tuesday, 08:41.

Both technicians are out on jobs. Ringbridge takes the symptoms and the registration, checks the postcode and books the diagnostic.

  1. 0:11Caller

Yeah, my car won’t start. It was fine yesterday, but this morning it just clicks when I turn the key.

  2. 0:19Ringbridge

Sorry to hear that. When you turn the key, do the dashboard lights come on as normal, or are they dim?

  3. 0:27Caller

They come on, but they sort of flicker when I try it.

  4. 0:33Ringbridge

That’s useful, thank you. Can I take the registration?

  5. 0:38Caller

  6. 0:43Ringbridge

Thanks. And where is the car at the moment?

  7. 0:47Caller

On my drive, in Stourbridge. DY8.

  8. 0:53Ringbridge

We cover DY8. For a non-start we’d send a technician out for a diagnostic call-out. That’s £45, and it comes off the bill if you go ahead with the repair. The earliest I have is today between two and four, or tomorrow from eight. Which suits?

  9. 1:18Caller

    Today, if you can.

Outcome

Diagnostic call-out booked

In the diary for this afternoon. Nobody put a spanner down.

Configured, not templated

Set up around your workshop, not a generic garage.

A mobile mechanic, a tyre bay and a marque specialist all take different calls. These are examples of how the set-up changes, not defaults.

BusinessWhat Ringbridge asks earlyA typical rule
Independent garageRegistration, the fault or service wanted, is the car driveable, preferred day.Diagnostics book straight in. Repairs are estimated only after inspection.
Mobile mechanicWhere is the vehicle, is it on a driveway or the roadside, postcode, symptoms.Check the postcode against the coverage area before offering any slot.
Tyre shopRegistration or tyre size, how many, puncture or replacement, fitted here or mobile.Give prices only for sizes held in the price list. Otherwise take details and call back.
Specialist repairerMake, model and year, what has been diagnosed already, who referred them.Out-of-marque enquiries are declined politely rather than booked.

Before you ask

The usual questions.

Can it make bookings?

Yes, where your diary or booking system is connected and you have told it what may be booked. You decide which job types can go straight into the diary, which slots can be offered, and which enquiries should become a callback instead.

Can it give prices?

Only the prices you have explicitly defined, such as a fixed call-out fee or a standard service price, and only in the situations you allow. Anything that needs judgement is passed to a person. Ringbridge does not estimate or guess.

Can it transfer calls to a person?

Yes, where configured. You choose which calls should be put through, to whom and at what times. If nobody picks up, Ringbridge takes the details and creates a callback rather than leaving the caller stranded.

Does it replace my staff?

That is not the aim. Ringbridge covers the calls your people cannot get to: when they are on a job, on another line, driving, or when the office is closed. Your team keeps the conversations that need them.

Can I see what happened on each call?

Yes. Every call produces a transcript, a short summary, the details captured, the action taken and the outcome, so nothing depends on somebody remembering to write it down.

Will customers know they are speaking to an AI?

They should, and we recommend saying so at the start of the call. Callers mostly want a prompt, competent answer and a clear next step. Ringbridge introduces itself as the business’s assistant, explains that the team are busy, and gets on with helping. Most callers are happier with that than with voicemail.
